Jake Kurth

Jake found the sport of CrossFit after graduating from college and quickly fell in love with the community and competition. Jake was a multi-sport athlete at Wayzata High school and went on to play college baseball at Iowa Central CC and Augustana University. “Since joining SISU I have become a better brother, son, coach, significant other, and follower of Christ…CrossFit challenges you down to the core…true character comes out when you feel like quitting and no one is counting.” Out to make a difference, Jake continues to stay in the game of baseball where he coaches one of the top club baseball programs in the nation, the Minnesota Blizzard. He sees CrossFit as the next level of connecting with the younger generation and meeting them where they are at.

I CrossFit because…

“It hurts so good! When I was in college I loved the grind of training with my best friends and competition that came from it. Is it weird that I still get nervous before a workout? The same feeling I got when I played athletics. Baseball is a game of failure and there are so many life lessons that can be learned, and that is what I see in CrossFit. I am constantly humbled by the sport and that is what pushes me to be a better me.”

I coach because…

“I want to connect, inspire, and empower people to be the best version of themselves. The truth is I love people more than CrossFit. I love seeing the smile on a person’s face when they hit a PR, and I enjoy watching everyone suffer through a grueling workout and then pick each other up. The crossover between everyday life and CrossFit is something that I want to share, and for that I want to pay it forward.”

My secret Ninja exercise is…

“Any clean”

My not so secret sucky is…

My favorite cheat meal is…

“Donuts and Pizza”
