Tim Cheek

Tim grew up in Northwest Indiana, playing many sports from a young age. Soccer became the main focus, playing in high school and for Wabash College. While in college Tim also found lacrosse and quickly fell in love with it. He played on the club team and was the captain and player/coach for two years. Tim graduated from Wabash with a major in Mathematics and a minor in Physics and Spanish. After Wabash, Tim continued his coaching career by coaching high school lacrosse for a year and eventually going back to coach the Wabash College Lacrosse team for a few years. Tim was introduced to CrossFit by a co-worker, but didn’t get serious about following it until moving to Minnesota in 2013. After a year being in a new city and doing the globo-gym routine, Tim decided to really try CrossFit and joined his first box. Tim knew that coaching CrossFit was in his future and is very excited to be a part of the amazing coaching staff at SISU. Tim took and passed his L1 exam in March of 2016.

I CrossFit because…

“I love the competition. I am a very competitive person and being able to push myself to see improvements is an awesome feeling.. I continue to CrossFit because I love the community that surrounds it. I’ve made some really good friends through CrossFit.”

I coach because…

“I love helping people grow. It gives me great satisfaction to know that I can help someone on their fitness journey. Whether that goal is meeting smashing a PR or making a life-style change, the fact that I can be there to help them on the path to get there, is incredible.”

My secret Ninja exercise is…

“I enjoy weightlifting and ring muscle-ups. Rowing and wall balls aren’t bad either because I have a little height.”

My not so secret sucky is…

“Handstand push ups and pistols are my nemesis.”

My favorite cheat meal is…

“Chicago-Style stuffed pizza, Ben & Jerry’s, and anything with peanut butter”
